I am 5 ft 5 inch at 157 lbs. 60 years old. I normally take a size 12. I carry my weight in my belly, hips and thighs. Definitely pear shaped. These pants were at least 2 inch too big in the waist. The length hit right at my ankle. Because I am hippy with large upper legs I worry a med size will pu...ll at my legs and belly when I sit. So I used a wide belt to cinch the waste . When I sat down the material was loose around my belly , hips and legs. But not so loose that they looked like clown pants. I had to stop wearing form fitting jeans and pants due to loose skin and fat on my inner thighs. These pants hide all that but still look great.. I do wish I had ordered petite for a shorter capri look. With a wide belt, a cute tee and flats they are a great summer/spring outfit.
I got that size (XL) and tall length (although I'm just 5'7", I thought I would like the extra length). Yes, they were nice and comfortable around the waist ((38") but very big everywhere else, and the length was too long. I felt that even size L would be too big so I returned them. Too bad becaus...e they're not on sale anymore -- I didn't find out if I could get the sale price but in a different size; maybe I should have. I gave them 3 stars because I liked the fabric very much.

Love them. Needed to replace an old, well worn pair of Old Navy pants. Customer Service recommended these and did not steer me wrong. A classic pair of pants with a classic fit. Highly recommended.

I ordered a regular and tall of these and am happy with both. The tall really does have the right length (I'm 5'6"), the cropped regular will be nice for summer. I'm size 12 and a medium fits great.
